APRIL 2019 CALENDAR FOR NURSERY SCHOOL PARENTS

THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO HELPED AT THE PARENT WORK PARTY LAST WEEK‼!

Together we were able to accomplish a lot of work.  Thanks again for your support.

WARMER WEATHER IS HERE (almost)

The children will be spending a lot more time outdoors in the warm weather. Ticks are out and about already, so periodically check your child for ticks after outdoor play. Please be sure to apply sunscreen to your children before sending them to school.  Play clothes and sneakers are best for outdoor play. Please send your child to school in a closed toed shoe, no flip flops or open toed sandals.   Thanks

HATCHING CHICKS and BUTTERFLIES

The oldest class is in the process of hatching chicks. We hope to have chicks in about 3 weeks.  At the end of the month each class will be watching caterpillars morph in to butterflies. Both of these fun, interactive activities help the children learn about nature and experience the process of bird and insect development.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SUPPORT THE NURSERY SCHOOL

Fundraising is a major way in which the nursery school is able to keep tuition low, maintain a quality program and provide scholarships.  Please consider participating in some of our simple fundraising opportunities.

AMAZON SMILE
The Nursery School is now associated with Amazon Smile.  When shopping through Amazon please consider going to Amazon Smile and listing United Church Nursery School at Chapel on the Hill as your non profit of choice and the nursery school will received a percentage of the profits.

KROGER COMMUNITY REWARDS
If you shop at Kroger and have a Kroger card, please take a few minutes to link your card to the nursery school.  Every time you use your card, the nursery school will get a kick back from Kroger. To link your card, go to Kroger Community Rewards and enroll in the program.  It just takes a few minutes but can really benefit the school.  Friends and family can link their cards too.

TUITION ROUND UP
By rounding up your tuition check a few dollars every month, you are helping the nursery school provide scholarships for children who might not otherwise be financially able to attend.  Thanks to all those who have participated in Tuition Round Up.

FREDDY’S RESTAURANT
On Thursday, April 11 from 5:00-8:00 pm please join us at Freddy’s Restaurant for dinner. Just mention the nursery school to the cashier and the nursery school will receive a portion of the sale. Please invite your family and friends to join us.

FAMILY NATURE ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY

This will be held on Tuesday, April 23 starting at 5:30 pm.  We will be learning about how to compost, how to make worm boxes for our gardens, and make bird feeder pinecones to name a few.  It should be an informative and fun evening. All families are invited to attend. To know how many to plan for, please RSVP to Trish.

SPRING SING:

Friday, May 3                  11:00 am                  Chapel
This will be handled just like the Christmas Sing except the Half-Pints will be singing with us this spring!   Children in the youngest class will not be participating in the sing.  We welcome the youngest class to come with their parents and watch the older children sing.  Tuesday-Thursday children (Shona and Tomoko’s class, Teresa and Karen’s class and Mary and Kimberly’s class) should come at 10:30 and they will sing with the 3-day classes in the Chapel. We will then dismiss to the Fellowship Hall or playground for popsicles. The children have been working hard, and they sound great.  It should be an entertaining show!  There will be no Kids’ Lunch In that day
