PHILOSOPHY & GOALS FOR CHILDREN
Experienced teachers provide a warm, loving and secure environment for children to grow, with opportunities to:

  • Play freely and creatively within a secure environment
  • Function independently according to their maturity level
  • Gain a sense of competence and responsibility for their own conduct
  • Be challenged and experience small successes that build self confidence
  • Take pleasure & satisfaction in what they have experienced and accomplished
  • Learn to identify and solve problems of group living
  • Interact with peers and adults & enlarge their abilities to give and receive love
  • Be respected as individuals & learn to respect themselves and others

GOALS FOR PARENTS
The nursery school affirms the importance of the family and strives to assist parents by encouraging them to understand, enjoy and accept their child as a unique individual.  We share observations of the child’s development and behavior at school.
Parent participation is welcome and encouraged. 
 
PROGRAM AND FACILITIES

Teachers select daily activities:

  • Varied art media and activities for creative expression
  • Manipulatives for small motor and cognitive development
  • Role playing equipment and activities
  • Opportunities for discovery and experiencing science and nature
  • Music and movement activities
  • Reading, storytelling, group discussions  
ROOMS ARRANGED FOR A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES
  • Large and small blocks
  • Child-sized kitchen for water and family living play, dress-up clothes and dolls
  • Reading and puzzle areas
  • Art center
  • Small tables for working with manipulatives

 MUSIC CLASS
There is an additional period each week to give children an opportunity to use their voices and bodies musically, enjoy and learn to sing a variety of songs, and play rhythm instruments.

OUTDOOR PLAY AREAS
*Fenced playground with swings, slides, sandbox and climbing equipment
*Paved area for riding toys
*Hill for running, rolling and “flying”
*Woods for exploring, discovery and pretend play

INDOOR ACTIVE PLAY AREA
Hall and classroom used for active play,  bouncing horses, indoor riding toys, balance beam, tunnel, imaginative play

CLASS OFFERINGS
School year is late August - May

9:00 – 12:00 Preschool Enrichment Program:

For children 16 months – 30 months:    
2-day class: Tuesday, Thursday

For children 24 - 30 months
3-day class:  Monday, Wednesday, Friday

For Children 30 months – 5 years:      
2-day class: Tuesday, Thursday
3-day class: Monday, Wednesday, Friday  
5-day class: Monday through Friday
  
  12:00 -1:30 or 12:00 -2:55
Afternoon Classes:

For children 30 months – 5 years
Children who attend afternoon classes bring their lunch, eat together and enjoy more stories, centers and outside play time.    Standing reservations for the year or occasional reservations as needed.
